- Public Health Departments
- Private Practices
Who Are CHWs?
Community health workers are trained professionals who are trusted and respected by the people they serve. CHWs apply their close understanding of communities to bridge the gap between providers and individuals and advocate for individuals and community needs.
The Maine CHW Initiative is developing a directory of organizations across the state that employ CHWs. The directory will help community members, patients, health care providers, and public health experts to better understand where CHWs are practicing and how they can be engaged.
